Siddhi Vinayak Temple, Mumbai

Siddhi Vinayak temple is the most famous temple of Mumbai city (also known as Bombay) in the Maharashtra state of India. The original temple was built in 1801 CE, and it was completely renovated in the 1900s. Located in Prabhadevi, it is one of the well-known landmarks of the city.

Though the temple is small, there is always a big queue of devotees found. Almost all the celebrities of Mumbai are regular visitors of the temple.

The main shrine enshrines Lord Ganesha. The specialty is that Ganesha has his trunk turned to his right side. His consorts Riddhi (Buddhi) and Siddhi are present on his either sides. Those icons appear as if they are peeping out from behind. There are also small images of Lord Shiva and another Ganesha in the main shrine. Even though Siddhi Vinayak's idol is made of black stone, it always appears orange in color. There is a separate shrine in this temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The roof and the tower of Siddhi Vinayak's shrine are gold coated.

If you visit Mumbai, this is one site which you should never miss. As photography is banned in this temple, I couldn't share any photographs of this site.

Happy travelling.
