Lakshmiramana Temple, Mysore Palace, India

Mysore Palace is the pride of Mysore and actually entire India. The heritage-rich Palace complex houses religious sites too.

Out of these twelve temples of the Palace, the Lakshmiramana shrine, located on the western part of the premises, has historical significance. Not only that...it is one of the oldest temples in the entire Mysore city.

It was built in 1499 CE by the Vijayanagara King Narasa Nayaka.

The presiding deity is Vishnu, known as Lakshmiramana. There are separate shrines for Lakshmi and Venugopala (Krishna).

This temple has witnessed a historical event: the coronation of 5-year-old Krishnaraja Wodyar III by the Britishers in 1799 after the death of Tipu Sultan.

Even though small in size, the temple is beautiful and neat. There is a belief that the prayers at this temple are always answered.

Don't miss this temple when you visit Mysore Palace.

Happy travelling.
