Murugan Temple - Ernakulam, Kerala

Ernakulam is the commercial capital city of Kerala state, India. Ernakulam and the nearby Cochin (or Kochi) are called twin cities.

Ernakulam has a famous Shiva temple called Ernakulathappan temple. This temple was built and maintained by the Tamils living in Ernakulam city. Besides, there is another prominent temple for Lord Murugan (Subramanya). Finding a temple for Lord Subramanya in Kerala state is very rare.

The sanctum enshrines Subramanya along with his consorts, Valli and Devasena. Ganesha, Dakshinamurti, Vishnu, Brahma, and Durga are found as the Kohsta deities, and Chandikeswara is too found, similar to the typical Tamil Nadu temples. There is a separate shrine for Navagraha.

Happy travelling.
