Kali Bari Temple

Kali Bari temple is a popular temple in Kolkata city of West Bengal state in India. Similar to that Kali Bari temple, there is a small temple dedicated to Kali Bari temple in Chennai city of South India. This temple was constructed by the Bengali population in Chennai city.

Kali Bari temple located in Umapathy Street of West Mambalam area resembles the structure of a typical Bengal temple. This white marble temple has Kali as the presiding deity. There is a small meditation hall which is very peaceful. This beautiful and well maintained temple also has the shrines of Ganesha and Shiv Linga. The bronze idol of Kali is also found in this temple. The marble idols of Ramakrishna Paramahansa and Sarada Devi are found near the entrance of the main shrine.

Putlur Angala Parameswari Temple - Chennai

Angala Parameswari Temple in Putlur, near  Chennai  city of South India, is a unique temple. The Goddess is in the form of a pregnant woman in this temple. The icon of Angala Parameswari is believed to be self-manifested, called swayambhu.  As per the legend, a village head tortured a poor for borrowed money. The poor was forced to plough an infertile land. While ploughing the ground full of rocks, the villager noticed that blood was oozing out from a particular place. Mount Road or Anna Salai is one of the most happening places in  Chennai . There are two famous Islamic shrines on Mount Road – one is  Thousands Light mosque .
