Phoenix Mall, Chennai

Chennai city, the gateway to South India, has got a new place to hangout - Phoenix Mall. This is one of the most happening places in Chennai. It is one of the biggest shopping malls in the city as of toady (2013 CE). It's contemporary design and hundreds of shops surely makes one feel as if he is somewhere outside India.

This interesting place has varieties of shops - international and domestic retail brands, sports stores, electronics, home furnishing stores and even fine dining cafes/restaurants. A 11 screen multiplex cinema hall will start functioning shortly. Kids play zone, especially the artificial snow city and the video games would certainly interest the kids much.

The mall has five floors and spans a huge area in Velachery area of the city. Some of the well known stores found in the mall include Lee, Levis, Wrangler, Big Bazaar, Arrow, Archies, Allen Solly, Swarovski, LifeStyle, Pantaloons, LifeStyle, Bata, Globus, GRT, Pantaloons, Nokia, Poorvika, Fab India, Samsung Galaxy, HP, KFC, Kwality Walls and Donut House.

This has definitely become a place not to be missed in the city.

Putlur Angala Parameswari Temple - Chennai

Angala Parameswari Temple in Putlur, near  Chennai  city of South India, is a unique temple. The Goddess is in the form of a pregnant woman in this temple. The icon of Angala Parameswari is believed to be self-manifested, called swayambhu.  As per the legend, a village head tortured a poor for borrowed money. The poor was forced to plough an infertile land. While ploughing the ground full of rocks, the villager noticed that blood was oozing out from a particular place. There, he discovered the image of the Goddess. It is a snake hole (putru in Tamil - where snakes live) in the form of a woman in a sleeping posture with her mouth kept open, and her bulged stomach like a pregnant woman. Mount Road or Anna Salai is one of the most happening places in  Chennai . There are two famous Islamic shrines on Mount Road – one is  Thousands Light mosque . The other one is Dargah-e-Hazrath Syed Moosa Shah Qadri Baghdadi (Rahmatullah Alaihi), also known as Mount Road Dargah. It is the most popular Dargah across the city.
