Bhubaneswar is not only about the gigantic Lingaraja temple or the architectural marvels such as Raja Rani temple or Parasurameshwar temple. The city has a lot more to offer for any enthusiastic and art loving traveler or devotee. The city, which is the capital city of Odisha (formerly Orissa) state of India, is called as 'the City of Temples'. It once had around 3000 temples and even today hundreds of temples are located in every nook and corner of this heritage rich city. Let us explore an unknown temple named Bakresvara temple in this article.

 Location:

It is very difficult to provide the exact location of small and little known temples. Bakresvara temple is located next to Yamesvara temple on the left side of the road branching from Badheibanka Chowk to Jambesvara Patna near Bharati Matha.
Architecture and Temple Layout:

Bakresvara Siva Temple is located next to Yamesvara temple. Similar to Yamesvara temple, this was also built by the Ganga Kings in the 13th century CE. Compared to Yamesvara temple, this one is smaller in size.

 The temple has sanctum sanctorum with a Rekha type Vimana which is Sapta ratha on plan. It has Pidha type Jagmohana which is Nava ratha on plan. There is no deity found in the sanctorum. This is not a living temple and is being maintained by ASI. There are no sculptures on the temple walls; however, there are sculptural and architectural motifs found.

Putlur Angala Parameswari Temple - Chennai

Angala Parameswari Temple in Putlur, near  Chennai  city of South India, is a unique temple. The Goddess is in the form of a pregnant woman in this temple. The icon of Angala Parameswari is believed to be self-manifested, called swayambhu.  As per the legend, a village head tortured a poor for borrowed money. A 17th century Dargah with healing power - Mount Road Dargah, Chennai, India

Mount Road or Anna Salai is one of the most happening places in  Chennai . There are two famous Islamic shrines on Mount Road – one is  Thousands Light mosque . The other one is Dargah-e-Hazrath Syed Moosa Shah Qadri Baghdadi (Rahmatullah Alaihi), also known as Mount Road Dargah. It is the most popular Dargah across the city.
