Junagadh is an important city of Gujarat state in India. There are many tourist attractions in Junagadh. I am presenting this article with brief details as I visited the site many years ago. Unfortunately, I do not have digital photographs of the site to post in this article.

Junagadh Zoo:

Junagadh Zoo a.k.a Sakkarbaug Zoo is one of the oldest and biggest zoological parks in entire India. It is located in a 490 acre area and was inagurated in 1863 CE. The Asiatic lions from the nearby Gir forest are the major attractions of this zoo.

Ashoka Rock Edicts:

Around 2 kms from Junagad, the Ashoka Rock Edicts are found. It belongs to 3rd century B.C.E.

Gayatri Temple:

The modern day Gayatri temple is one of the major attractions of Junagadh.

Damodar Kund:

Damodar Kund was originally constructed in 500 CE. This water reservoir was reconstructed multiple times. It is a sacred bathing place for the Hindus. Near this kund, there is Revati Kund. After Lord Balaram married Revati, her father Revata left Dwarka and migrated near Girnar. Hence, this kund was named after him. Near Damodar kund, the temple of Damodarji is found. It is believed to have been built by Vajranabha, the great grand son of Lord Krishna.
Uperkot Fort:

Uperkot Fort is one site in Junagadh which no tourist misses to visit. It is a massive fort.

 The first attraction inside the fort is Jama Masjid, which has 140 pillars for supporting its ceiling. 

 Inside the fort area, the ancient Buddhist caves which have the stone carvings are found.

 Around 1000 years old large step wells are also found inside the fort.
Durbar Hall:

Durbar Hall was used as the durbar by the erstwhile Nawabs of Junagadh. It has many interesting sections such as arms gallery, picture gallery, the textile section, etc.

Putlur Angala Parameswari Temple - Chennai

Angala Parameswari Temple in Putlur, near  Chennai  city of South India, is a unique temple. The Goddess is in the form of a pregnant woman in this temple. The icon of Angala Parameswari is believed to be self-manifested, called swayambhu.  As per the legend, a village head tortured a poor for borrowed money. The poor was forced to plough an infertile land. While ploughing the ground full of rocks, the villager noticed that blood was oozing out from a particular place. There, he discovered the image of the Goddess. It is a snake hole (putru in Tamil - where snakes live) in the form of a woman in a sleeping posture with her mouth kept open, and her bulged stomach like a pregnant woman. The villagers built a temple with this putru and named the Goddess Angala Parameswari. A 17th century Dargah with healing power - Mount Road Dargah, Chennai, India

Mount Road or Anna Salai is one of the most happening places in  Chennai . There are two famous Islamic shrines on Mount Road – one is  Thousands Light mosque . The other one is Dargah-e-Hazrath Syed Moosa Shah Qadri Baghdadi (Rahmatullah Alaihi), also known as Mount Road Dargah. It is the most popular Dargah across the city. It draws devotees of all faiths and all walks of life. Especially every Thursday, a large number of devotees gather to the Dargah. A lot of city-based celebrities regularly visit the site. This Dargah is the shrine of a Muslim Saint named Hazrath Syed Moosa Shah Qadri Baghdadi. He was also known as Rahmatullah Alaihi.
