The city is called as Ekamara Kshetra as it has so many Shiva temples. Let us explore the little known twin temples of Bhubaneswar.

Location:

Labesvara and Kushesvara temples are located at a distance of around 2 kms from Lingaraja temple. The location is on the right side of the road leading from Kalpana square to Lingaraja temple. The twin temples are situated on both sides of the road near Shatrughanesvara group of temples and Ramesvara temple.

History:

Both the temples were built by Suryavamsi Gajapati rulers in the 14th or 15th century CE.

Temple Layout:

Kushesvara temple has a single Pidha vimana. It is a living temple enshrining Shiva Linga. The tiny temple has the niche images of Ganesha, Kartikeya and Parvati in the exterior wall.

Labesvara temple is located opposite to Kushesvara temple. It also has a single Pidha vimana. It enshrines Shiva Linga idol. It does not have any niche image. It is also called as Hanumantesvara temple.
